A LITTLE ABOUT VAVA'U

Located at about 19 degrees south of the equator Vava'u is the northern most island group in the Kingdom of Tonga. Beautiful and unspoiled by big commercial tourism it is like stepping back in time. The total number of tourist that visited Vava'u last year only approaches 10 thousand.

The Tongan people are warm and friendly. With their infectious laughter and a laid back attitude one can't help but relax with them and let the real world fade away. Tonga is rich in culture from its Polynesian history. It seems that every place here has a Folklore. From the great god of the ocean "Maui" who pulled Tonga out of the sea with his fishing net to the Samoan devil gods that played havoc on the ancient people, there is never a lack of an entrancing tale.
