Itinerary Depending on your airline and package you will arrive at the main island of Tongatapu on Thursday or Saturday and should take the next available inter-island flight to Vava'u. We will make arrangements for accommodations based on your flights and preferences. Upon arriving in Vava'u you be greeted by one of our crew who will take you to your accommodation to get settled in and take care of any special needs you may have prior to the Charter. Our first group meeting and dinner will be on the night of your arrival in Vava'u where you will be introduced to the crew and after a quick briefing relax and get to know each other. Starting following morning we will be collecting our guests and departing at about 8am daily. Yes that is early and we are always the first out finding whales... the early bird does catch the whale. There will be cookies, snacks and bottled water throughout the day. Lunch is available on the boat at anytime but typically we break around noon to one of dozens of uninhabited islands to sit on the beach and enjoy the spectacular scenery while munching. You will learn the folklore and history of many of these beautiful islands each day bringing a new mystical tale of ancient Tonga. Returning around 2-3pm you will have time to explore Naiafu and its surroundings. Go shopping or even take on an afternoon activity like game fishing or scuba diving. Dinner will be discussed for that evening prior to disembarking and arrangements made for pickup times and locations for the dinner rendezvous. Lay days; there will be 2 lay days for weather and other activities, The choice is yours , take an off road cart tour of Vava'u, go for a quiet sail around the inner islands, stroll through a botanical garden or hike around the coast line, try some game fishing, scuba diving, or just chill out all day and enjoy the laid back island attitude Tonga is so famous for. Flights departing from Tongatapu fall on Sundays to US via Fiji and Tuesdays direct to the US. Flights to Auckland depart starting on Mondays. This leaves plenty of time for the inter-island return flight. |
